If you have a child that has ANY sort of special needs.....really smart or requires learning modifications....I would stay away from Conroe ISD. My husband used to work for Tri-County MHMR and he had a VERY VERY difficult time getting the assistance/modifications (from the schools/school district) for the kids and families he was helping. He swore that we would never live in Conroe ISD after experiencing that.
Those school might be safe, but if your child will not be receiving the things that they are needing to be successful in school, safety is not what I would be worrying about!
Katy ISD is an excellent school district. My husband now teaches there and our daughter goes to a Katy ISD school. We could not be happier. Check out this website: http://www.katyisd.org

When I lived in Conroe, people were clamoring to get into the Woodlands ISD. The schools dont' have a bad rep for safety issues, but don't have the niceties of other districts.

The schools are pretty good. If you can afford it the schools in Katy ISD are a little bit better.
