I think a lot of it is cultural. Males are raised by their parents and society to hide their emotions and "act strong." From a very young age, their parents and peers teach them that expressing emotions is "wussy" and makes them look bad. Girls, on the other hand, are treated much more forgivingly. A girl who cries is not immediately condemned for being a "sissy" and told sharply to "stop that!"; she's comforted, "now now don't cry, it's best not to cry." Still discouraged from doing it, but there's not that threat to her self-image.
Culture and upbringing promotes it, but I think that it must be the case that females naturally tend to EXPRESS their emotions more than men. Both genders have emotions that are equally intense, but women seem to have a stronger instinct to TALK about emotions, while men do not have such a strong instinct to communicate.
From this genetic difference- which may be very slight- grows society's descision that being emotional is "not masculine," and so reinforce it and cause a greater difference between the two genders than should naturally occur.
I personally think that sexism in America works the opposite way everyone claims- it is the men who are placed at the disadvantage, because they are given less freedoms and more pressures. They're not allowed to express themselves, and they're forced to be the one to work to support the other gender. Plus, society installs a built-in device that prevents them from complaining about it- that would be unmanly.

This assumption only works (and not with absolute predictability) within certain discourses in which a culture has adopted this thinking and acts as social educators and enforcers towards mannerisms, expressions, and gendered displays.
My name is Amiko-Gabriel. I'm the Director of an online gender education community called Gender Schmender. Our community has a sociological basis and we've got a lot of very educational threads with information that you probably won't get sitting back and watching television. You're welcome to stop by and check out the group if you've got more questions about gender, or human identities in general. Link below.

sure, maximum women folk do cry greater suitable than adult males. that's by using the fact as adult males advance up, they learn that they are meant to be complicated, to on no account tutor their emotions, to be autonomous and concern-solvers. (in the event that they don't, they are doomed to be sissies and little females). women folk, on the different hand, don't experience recommended to accomplish that, consequently they experience greater loose to specific their emotions with out being judged. women folk are greater gentle via hormonal variations additionally. (Menstrual cycle, being pregnant, rigidity and all). This ends up in greater crying and "subject dramatazinig". even however you do not see a guy cries greater suitable than a woman, it nonetheless exists. i'm a woman and that i don't cry as much as a common woman does.

If we didn't have this emotional attachment , we would not mother. We would have no remorse. Babies would die. Human beings would cease to exist. This carries out in all the things we love but that is the root of emotions.

society is to blame for this one. women do not have the pressure men have to be tough and strong. if a man cries in public he is shamed and laughed at...for a women she would be accepted and comforted. it is unfortunate that men are taught at such a young age to not cry and to be strong...you find it in sports and in the education system. women / girls also seem to be more social than men, i believe that women use their emotions to build strong bonds with other women, while men use other avenues to be social...
