any1 else agree tht the nhl hates buffalo? and why do you think they show their hatrid towards buffalo by giving us stupid penalties and not give the other teams pealties that they deserve?

I am a huge Sabres fan. I grew up in Buffalo and started going to games back when they were a new franchise.
That being said...I don't think the refs are targeting the Sabres at all. I think all teams sometimes have to deal with bad and inconsistent calls. I've watched every Sabres game this season (4 live, the rest on tv) and though I've seen some missed calls for the other teams and some questionable calls on our guys, I don't think it's anything personal. I've also noticed times when the Sabres weren't called on some things that they probably should have been. I don't really see any difference from any other year or any other team.
It's easy to blame the refs when your favorite team isn't doing their best. It's also important to remember that the refs are human, and sometimes prone to error.
Let's go Buffalo!

Oh, and no other teams in the NHL get stupid penalties. Whether they are stupid or not, try to look at things with a bit of a neutral eye. Considering Buffalo ranks 19th overall in times shorthanded as of Dec. 6, you don't have much of a case there. The other 18 teams ahead of Buffy topped by the Sucks being shorthanded 97 times so far this season would have stronger cases.
Buffy plays good clean hockey by the looks of it and hardly is ever shorthanded. I mean they have to kill an average of just 2.5 penalties a game. That's miniscule.

No, it's just that the NHL favors its star players, and a team like Buffalo, which is built around a team concept rather than relying on stars, isn't going to get the same level of protection. I mean, is there any hockey fan that thinks if _anyone_ on Buffalo had hit Ovetchkin with anything like his cheap shot on Briere that the Buffalo player wouldn't have been suspended?

It's not just happening to Buffalo.....it's all around the NHL. Rules are rules regardless of how stupid they may be. Buffalo has been called many times for hooking because they take one hand off the stick when they are doing it. Just skate and keep both hands on the stick and you won't get so many stupid calls. The players get lazy on the ice and clutch, grab, hook, and trip. Those are obviously offenses. They know the rules, play smart and the penalties will go down regardless of what team you are.

Calm down, lidstromfan is right. I'm a Dallas Stars fan and its happened to us and teams we've played against. Example 1. Everybody remembers the only game between the Dallas Stars and the Edmonton Oilers this year. In the last few seconds the ref waved off a Goal that clearly should have counted. Example 2. Dallas vs Atlanta, the Stars were on a power play when Miettinen looked like he hit the cross-bar. Our broadcasters decided to comment on the hit cross-bar, low and behold the puck actually hit the inside cross bar and bounced out of the net. Even though the puck had clearly completely crossed the goal-line, they didn't even review it.
So it happens to everybody, the only thing people don't like about Buffalo is your attitudes. Win a few games, and all of the sudden your full of your-selves.

It isn't against Buffalo. Most of the penalties are stupid this year in the NHL. I think the NHL is changing the game too much to please the "casual fan" while leaving true hockey fans out to dry.
Look forward to 2012, when hockey officially changes it's name to "Soccer on ice."
Don't get me wrong, hockey always will be the best sport out there, it just sickens me what these rich assholes are doing to it.

Why is it that all Buffalo fans are cry babies? You guys are in first place, stop complaining... Stupid pentalies? Dont make me laugh... This is hockey dude. Why dont you go get your refing license and go ref the games then... If your not out there keep your mouth shut and enjoy the fact that you guys might actually win a stanley cup for a change.

I don't think the NHL hates Buffalo. I think people hate the Sabres because everyone's jumping on the bandwagon. And no one, NHL and the hockey-loving world, HATES their jerseys. Ugh...what the hell is that?

do you opt for a tissue? no human being hates your Sabre's. stop crying about the referees. in the journey that they are almost as good as you think they're, they must be dominating the sequence hostile to the weaker Ranger fighters, and by no skill might want to keep in touch with close calls at mandatory situations of the game(s).

Hell NO. I was at a Sabres vs Rangers game and ref let the Bufflao get away with alot of calls. To be honest ref sucks these day in every sport.
