How old are you, and what is the ESRB rating on the game you want? Generally, anything rated E or T is fine for anyone. I would understand her concern if you were looking at a game rated M. Make sure to inform her about ESRB ratings if she doesn't already know: not all games are like the ones people condemn on talk shows.
Anyway, stuff about video games being anti-Christian is wrong wrong wrong, and reports of influences on children are greatly exaggerated. If you are at all capable of differentiating between reality and fiction, then you can play video games without any problems.

you know what? so am I!!! the only reason why the person on the radio probably said that is because he probably has a son that plays it all day instead of doing anything else... and besides that why would it be bad for children?? you know what most games are unchristianly... like those gross resident evil ones, but if you are getting stuff like, Mario, or Pokemon, or Kingdom Hearts, and what not, fine, and look your MOM is NOT evil she just might of listened to that, and you know what I learned form video games? imagination and good timing for music!, sooo if your mom says video games are bad tell her that you only get the good ones!! I mean why should she listen to someone on the radio? I mean the person on the radio probably isn't even christian, AND ALSO I also heard that it is important to take a break from life sometimes, like for my parents, they ALWAYS go out on a date every thursday and that's thier taking a break from life, while mine is video games! so video games are fine if you get clean ones. and if your mom still says no say, "well I think that all radio stations are unchristianly, they have all those swear words," and she'll probably say "no not all of them do" and you'll say "well not all video games have swear words either, or bad stuff or things like that!" and you know what? GTA is disgusting that's probably why the person on the radio would say that also, GTA has gross swear words and stealing and gross ladies... eeew, soo my advice would be just earn it, also if your eighteen you own yourself, so she should let you do what you want, my mom does when you're eighteen, although she still encourages us to do what's right she still let's us live life, so hope this helped a lot.

It depends on what game you want to play. I mean some games are not good for you as far as education and stuff goes but some are good and ok to be playing. i mean like GTA San Andreas is a bad game to play (if your little) it teaches little kids to steal cars if your a little older it is ok i guess. something less violence would be better for little kids to be playing like a sports game (madden for instance).if you mean safe just about all games have a warning on them about seizure so i would say thats not safe. as far as unchristian goes i don't know about that.

Get online and show her reviews of the games you want -- look them up on Amazon.com. Also, check out http://www.parentpreviews.com/html/games.shtml and show her the review of a game you'd like to have (assuming it gets good reviews!). Tell her that saying all video games are bad is like saying all BOOKS are bad because a few are, or all MINISTERS are bad because a few are!!! Good luck with your mom....

considering people who say things like that about video games only look at Halo and GTA... show your mom the brighter side of gaming like Kirby, or Wii Sports, or Kingdom Hearts...

You mean you need an argument why video games are good? They improve reaction time and some strategy games (starcraft or other rts games) improve foresight. Also, they are a way to have
FUN!!!!!!!!

I'm lucky my mom isn't a christian although I am . There is nothing wrong with video games IMO . If you kill a polygon it isn't a sin, unless you kill a living person .

I don't think that there's anything wrong with them. If you can tell the difference between what's right and wrong then there shouldn't be a problem.
