Well first of all I would like to applaud you for getting rid of him!! You see so many times where girls are in abusive relationships and they stay with the jerks. What I would suggest is go to all your old favorite hang outs, get together with the people you use to jam with. Being around those people and at those favorite places will help you bring back your old self.

Good luck!!!

It would take time, but you would get it back some day!
And that idiot, has issues problems! He was a bully. And we all known that bullies are insecure and belittling gives them small bouts of pleasure. So remember that he is worse of then you, you have friends and people that actually like you, not ones that pretend to!

Just like a kind of self-hypnotism, silently, in your head, constantly say things to yourself that are self-affirming, positive, kind, tender, loving, caring, patient, up-beat, up-lifting, wonderful, gentle, and empowering. Replace those negative thoughts with positive ones.

first of all you're definitely better off w/o him. second, just put your mind to what you want to do and focus- don't even think about him, since that's in the past and dwelling on it won't help. third, the past is done and over with and it should stay that way.
