I live in zone 6 and after Easter usually works. But if we stop and remember that the beans the Anasazi left behind in patches of the Four Corner area of the American Southwest reseeded themselves for more years than we'll ever know, to be discovered and grown by those who were settling in that area, I'd say they're smart enough to keep themselves underground fairly well until time to grow. The volunteers in the garden always seem to do right well, in fact, many do better than what I plant.

Spring is the best time of year if you live in the South but the North is a different story and I can not help you on this.

No bean will germinate if the soil temperature is below 70 degrees.

Plant in well prepared soil, after all danger of frost is gone, usualy the spring.That depends on where you live. In California, plant in late april/earley may.
