I think J.K. Rowling is better, because her writing transcends ages. It isn't good just for kids. Lemony Snicket seems to leave a lot in the basket, so to speak, I don't enjoy them at all, where I've read all the Harry Potters a dozen times! With Rowling, you find something new every time you read it.

I definitely admire Lemony Snicket more. Sure, Rowling has made it big with Harry Potter and all, but "A Series of Unfortunate Events" just had a wonderful style. It was accessible to kids, but still interesting to older people. It was dark, haunting, bold, and unapologetic and I loved it.

J.K. Rowling.
Lemony Snicket is a quitter. He stopped writing series of unfortunate events.
