If you mean as a registered voter.. then you have to check with the voters registration office for your state. You'll probably have to fill out a form and choose which party you want.

When they have the primaries elections, you just tell them which party's primaries you want to vote in. That's all there is to it. You can say Republican or Democrat or maybe something else, but you only get to vote in the primaries for one party.

Generally, you go to your board of elections office and fill out an affidavit to change party affiliation. You might want to call them and ask. Some states and counties allow such changes to be done at drivers license bureaus and public libraries.

Call whatever pary you are registered with and tell them to take you off their list.

Then call the pary you wish to be registered with and tell them to sign you up.

If you are not registered with any party then: no worries
