The thing with the art industry (at least with animation, 2d modeling, etc), is that companies don't really care about your marks or what degrees you have.
Instead they care most about the work you do in the end (your demo reel, portfolio, etc) because this is what you are going to be hired for. A degree will not get you a job in this industry, only your passion will (and that is why most end up flipping burgers in the end - they lack the required motivation).
So if you do go for it, don't rely on graduation alone for job hunting. When they teach you the principals (squash and stretch, timing, staging, etc), master them. Practice non stop, and put your entire heart into any assignments given. Then your time/money spent won't be a waste

Well, when I went to school I saw a lot of students drop out. The teacher said it was so hard that 2/3 of the students wouldn't graduate, but those that did would probably find jobs. So I am not sure. I know it's not worthless, but your portfolio/demo reel is a lot more important then your grades! What is important that you got to a school that does not stifle your creativity of push you out the door assembly line style. A bachelor's is a useless piece of paper. The learning process to get that bachelor's is what is important!

Depends on where you go to get a job.Perhaps you should try looking for jobs along your field for example a company that does animation for television programmes or even to design electronic games that are so popular today. The sky is your limit, don't ever let people's opinion stop you from pursuing your dream. If everybody had thought like that we would have never had entertainment giants like Walt Disney World.Good luck!!!!!

you know, people are always opening positions for jobs at different times. times change, and maybe they'll need a supply for animation, however it IS very competitive. if you can become very good at it and get lucky, you'll find yourself a job. however i suggest double majors if you're going into animation, because it's more rare to find a job with animation, unless you're exceptionally good at it. make animation a minor, and get new major

nobody does cartoons the old-fashioned way it's done with computers...but you could teach art with that degree ..it's more fun to teach then drawling cartoons for someone else..
