Foster parenting is NOT about the money, that's for sure. You get subsidized enough to cover the child(ren)'s expenses but nothing more. The biggest problems involve your ability to love a child that is not your own and may have BIG problems (like abuse, or being in a drug/alcohol/violent environment), the confusion of the child and their ability to understand your rules, the limitations you have in discipline, and the seperation anxiety that they will have in coming to live with you and when you have to let them go as well. You need to be VERY involved in their rights and question EVERY decision that is made by CPS or Social Services if you think it is NOT in the best interest of the child or your family. CPS/Social Services is NOT god regardless of what they think and only you know what is REALLY happening in the life of the child. If the child is allowed visitations by the parents/relatives make sure you know WHO is allowed and for how long.

The pluses:
giving a child the love they need (usually desperately)
having a POSITIVE effect on their life.
and. . . sometimes being able to have them for family for life (my first foster daughter who came to us at 13 yo is now 40 with her own child and still calls us Mom and Dad. . . she did not call her own parents that. . . we now have a "foster" granddaughter).

The negatives:
the hurt you see and find in the child
the possible disruptive behavior the child will bring into the house and affect your own biological children
the MAJOR attention you must give them
seeing them go at the end of placement.

If you can live with all that and love the foster child(ren). . . go for it. It is very rewarding work.

it may well be dazzling, whether it would additionally be a extensive accountability on your moms and dads. we've been foster moms and dads, and that's beautiful while a very good newborn or babies are placed on your place, yet you are going to be able to additionally get youngsters who're not so superb - possibly youngsters who steal your stuff, or have extreme emotional issues. there is likewise a brilliant number of coaching to pass by using, it could take months of instructions and in-domicile learn, and you won't understand this, yet right here the place we are residing, if a foster newborn makes an accusation of abuse against your moms and dads - you should be removed from the domicile, and placed in foster care your self! Like I mentioned, that's a extensive accountability on your moms and dads. Plus, they have raised your brother for terribly almost 18 years, and you for 14 years - possibly they are waiting to basically have one newborn at domicile, and once you pass away they could relish something!

My Aunt Barbara Use to Do Foster Care and she says it was head to watch the Children go away but she knew what they where going to good homes and that she was doing Gods work. I think you should do Foster Care because Babies and Children need homes too. Someday if you want and have the money to do so you may want to Adopt a Child or two.

I am a foster carer in Australia and I say go for it. The joy you get from it is a blessing. I have had over 30 children in my care ( not all at once lol). It can be hard but rewarding. All I can say again is go for it. You won't regret it.

Do not become a foster parent. You are questioning money.these kids needs a loving home and not a roof over their head as long as the check is coming in.I was in foster care.I was in quite a few.Im thankful for the 1 home that took me in and loved me and kept in touch with me even after I moved back with my mom.We kept contact through out my adult life.It was my stupidity why we are no longer in contact. The other foster home I was in was in it just for the money.I was not loved.they was always on the phone asking where their check and clothing vouchers was for me.I hated being there.I was just a paycheck for them. Please dont make any kid feel like I did in foster care.
