Rottweilers are great dogs when they are properly trained. They are intelligent and gentle. My daughter had rotts when her kids were little, and the kids used to use the dog as a step up onto the couch, the dog did not care. The kids could have done anything to the dog, and he would not have hurt them. Unfortunately rotts have a very strong jaw and hard bite. If they are abused, or trained to be me without being controlled, they can be very vicious, and when they bite they do massive damage with their strong jaws. They also look scary and too many people teach them to be mean without training them to be under control. They are good dogs when treated properly and trained. They also are one of the breeds, like pit bulls, that are being discriminated against in law because idiot people have owned them and allowed them to do terrible damage to people. I would not get one now, nor would my daughter because of fear of these laws.
To add to this, when my daughter had the rotts, she had two, she operated a day care center. When it came time to relicense, the state said they would not license her because she had dangerous dogs. All of the parents of the kids in the daycare center wrote letters to the state inspectors saying that my daughters dogs were wonderful with the kids and were no danger.

Good dog but they need to be strictly trained so that they fear the fly swatter/rolled newspaper/back of your hand for turning on someone more than getting violent when someone like a child pulls the tail or the ears.

Can be tough doggies. Lots of people like them. Good guard dogs.They are now legally banned in a nearby town.

They are amazing dogs. My friend used to have two of them and they were the sweetest dogs ever. Both of them died of old age though.

They are good dogs to keep for security, i really dont think that they are good dogs to keep especially around children.

One of the best breed of Dogs...............but also depends on how one person look after and train the Rotties!!!
