The "Adrian Mole" by Sue Townsend series is an incredibly funny read. So far, this series comprises 6 books... so you should start with the first one "The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole: Aged 13 3/4" which is about the life of a English boy from a dysfunctional family, and Adrian loves to vent his every thought in his secret diary... what his mom does, what the dog eats, about his deamgirl Pandora etc. If you like this kind of stuff, I can guarantee you'll read the entire series once you begin.

Chronicles of the Cheysuli is a good fantasy series. It's about a race of people, called the Cheysuli, who can shapechange into animal form. Their race is under persecution by the "normal" people who share their land. They must fight to preserve their race and heritage while at the same time fullfill a prophesy that requires them to unite with their sworn enemies.
The Green Rider is an excellent fantasy novel. It's about a girl who runs away from school and winds up carrying a life-and-death message to the king. She discovers a magic talent and is followed by people who want to kill her to keep that message from the king. She has some exciting side adventures along the way and meets some interesting people. There is a sequel called First Rider's Call, but it's not quite as good as the first. I'm anxiously awaiting the third book.

I almost wonder if your talking about me. But thats ok ever heard knowledge is power? Well the books I tell people about give people more understanding of what their partner needs and alot of the time if they do just their part they will get the reaction they want from there spouse ( cause and effect) And for your information I wouldnt just name off a random book or books if I didnt truely believe in there potential to help people improve their marriage. And I know for a fact the books work because they certainly have helped my marriage and the marriages of people i personally know who have read them. So don't be annoyed when people ask for my advice and I give them the best advice I can even if that advice is to read a book that I know can help.

"Raise the Titanic" by Clive Cussler. It's a great suspense novel. It was published before the real ship was found, but even though it has been found, it doesn't diminish the work.
I don't want to give too much away, but suffice to say that there is a vital need for the ship to be raised.
And in case you're wondering, I will say this much. The reason it can be raised in the book, is that it was long believed that the Titanic sank in one piece, and it is that conceit that allows the fantasy of raising the ship.

I think you would enjoy the fantasy series, "The Spellsong Cycle," by L.E. Modesitt,Jr. They're all about one woman, who in her real life is subjected to abuse and exploitation at home and at work, but in another dimension, is a powerful singer sorceress. For anyone who enjoys music, it is an interesting twist on the whole fantasy genre of fiction. The more powerful the song, the more powerful the spell. Enchanting! (no pun intended)

The Kite Runner is an excellent read. Also consider A Fine Balance - many humorous moments in that book. Have you read John Irving's books? You may enjoy The Cider House Rules - one of his best. Anything by Stephen King is usually worth reading if you enjoy that sort of thing.

If you like fantasy, you'll love King Fortis the Brave - about a pair of twins pulled into a magical world where they find themselves caught up in a battle for control of the land. Full of adventure and humor, it is a fun read.

There's a new medieval fantasy series in hardcover that you might like. The title of the first episode is THE BLACKGLOOM BOUNTY. It's 445 pages of action, adventure, magic, mystery and mayhem. If you're a fan of Conan, LOTR or Wheel books, this is one you'll enjoy. A Hollywood producer said it was, "Like Braveheart meets Lord of the Rings." (See other comments & reviews below.)
Good luck, whatever you decide to read!
Major Media Reviews:
Publishers Weekly said in a rare STARRED Review:
"A fast pace, sly humor, amusing dialogue and a richly researched background lift Baxley's fantasy, the first of a new series set in medieval Britain. When Merlin's long-ago apprentice Kruzurk Makshare (aka the Boozer) receives a dreamlike visitation from the legendary mage, he learns he must destroy another former apprentice, the villainous Seed of Cerberus. To do so will require a visit to the demon-guarded Blackgloom Keep. Enter young Daynin McKinnon, who discovers a curious rune-covered headstone, which may be the fabled Blackgloom Bounty, and brings it to Kruz's attention. Kruz believes it will provide entry into the fortress, while Daynin hopes the sale of the stone will restore his family's fortunes. The colorful cast of good guys and ne'er-do-wells includes the Pictish ghost of Brude McAlpin liberated from his tomb, assorted pursuing Caledonians and a bemused Prior Bede, whose monastery serves as a hiding place for the Blackgloom Bounty. Suitable for fantasy enthusiasts of all ages."

it really depends on how old you are. anything under 18 (and also above....) the true confessions of Charlotte Doyle. it's about a girl discovering what she's made of . it's set back in time on a ship and everything that can go wrong does. really a cute one. older? the alchemist, one of the most inspiring books I've ever read... makes you want to achieve everything you've ever considered dreaming of!
