Can anyone tell me or direct me to a site describing why some serial killers have an obssesion with killing hookers or prostitutes. I've being growing intrested in the thought system of serial killers ever since watching Dexter on showtime, and can't seem to find anything about it on Wikipedia.

I don't know about an actual site devoted to this topic. (But who knows?) You will probably have to focus on a specific killer who "specialized" in prostitutes, such as Gary Ridgway, the Green River Killer.

However, it doesn't take a lot of thought to figure out this one. Prostitutes are readily available victims. They will willingly get in your car and go to a secluded place with you because of the nature of their business. In addition, they often don't have much in the way of friends or family connections. So if they drop out of sight, they aren't going to be missed right away. Therefore, it sometimes takes authorities a while to figure out that a serial killer is at work.

For some guys, it goes deeper than this. Some despise women and are taking their "revenge" (this is especially true if they have trouble reaching sexual satisfaction with women). Others have a pseudo-religious motivation: they are removing a source of sin from the earth.

In any case, it's a sad story all the way around.

They are interested in hookers and prostitutes probably b-cuz they know them hookers and prostitutes do not have people caring for them.... oh they also know they can not run with high heals so they have a better chance in catching them....

Well, Jack the Ripper did it because he looked at them as a plague on society. Most just do it because the hookers usually have no family or close friends, I suppose.

They kill hookers for the same reason that they kill homeless people: easy victims! It's easy to lure one into your vehicle or get one to go home with you. Nobody will report them missing right away. People tend not to notice them. (Think back to the last time that you saw a hooker: do you remember what she was wearing or where she was headed or who she was talking to?)
