Pisses me off!!!! I shop for bargains, drive an 8-year-old car, clothes from Walmart, etc. Kills me to see these welfare/food stamp dependents buying the good stuff, sporting $5000 spinning rims on their car, and wearing the top dollar, name brand stuff. I work hard everyday for the things I have. I have an average of $14,000 dollars withheld from my earning every year!!! I have a house desperately in need of repair, and my own kids to think of!!! Yes, I know there are circumstances in which things happen and persons can go from very comfortable to government assistance overnight, which may be the case sometimes when someone pulls the stamps from a Prada bag. After Hurricane Katrina, (I live in the disaster area) I was given a food stamp card with less that $300 dollars on it. Even though nearly every one else in this area had one, I was so ashamed each time I pulled out that card!!! There were many people here after Katrina that were given "purchase cards" with a $2000 balance and no restrictions on them. My mother works in jewelry and was just sick at all the "Needy" that used those cards to purchase gold, diamonds, etc. That was no isolated, but rampant. The welfare system is so abused. It's concept is good, but it's reality is a national embarrassment!!!

I think they are stupid. The government needs to prioritize & redistribute their (and our) funding to something more worthwhile. I once went grocery shopping on a Sunday evening and waited behind this couple with 2 overflowing shopping carts full of steaks, and tons of junk food. The total came to about $427 & they paid the whole damn bill with food stamps. JERKS!
I work my *** off and still buy "cost effective" groceries. Nuts to those people.

might not be real, the state is pretty good at deciding who needs food stamps and who doesn't. however if they're getting paid big bucks under the table and not letting the state know, yeah that sucks
