i have a friend who is turning 43, any ideas for a birthday present, not cheep,but not to expencive either. she don't like having anything that won't be used, she likes to have colors that fit the settings in her house. i'm totaly cluless. please help

Oh, for sure get her a massage ;) Something she will use. It's so nice to get a massage, especially if she's stressed alot. Though it is around 40.00. If this is too expensive, try a filling a small gift basket with scented candles, truffles, a burnt cd of slow & calming music, and bubble bath. (Etc. Just all at home spa stuff she can try) Nothing says Happy Birthday like a nice relaxing spa at home!
It also adds a nice touch if you do it yourself. Or you can even go together for a massage! Trust me, once you go pro massages you never go back. They are to die for!

I have plenty of middle aged friends and we don't bother so much with gifts. We spend time with them on the day. Surprise them with a party. Bring a good bottle of wine and we share laughter.
They had plenty of good gifts in the past.They have made plenty of money to buy what they want. This is a situation where you ask yourself "What can I buy somebody who has everything?"
Friendship and good times are better than anything material.
Now,if you insist. There are a good variety of choices in a flea market or MArshall's or Ross. Now spend some time working on a lampshade or a placemat. Add something personal to both of you. Make it look that you bought it for her not just a passed-on gift. or a saw a persian carpet that I was sure you really like and duhh!her house is modern.
A good pot of orchids or bonsai will also do.Good luck!

Make darn sure he has a list of his assets and values on the day they are married. She probably wants half of them. In many states she is only entitled to half the appreciation. It is probably unavoidable that she gets half the house. PS: In some states an 18-year old can't be put in jail for having sex with a 16-year old.
