i don't believe the lower part of the trunk was cut after i purchased it. i have already decorated it , however, and really don't want to remove the ornaments and lights. so any suggestions besides sawing off the bottom would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, I did this once. I didn't cut the bottom off before I decorated it. So, I got a couple of friends to hold the tree up while I cut the bottom with a power saw. It really wasn't too heavy to lift and we didn't lose any ornaments in the process. If you only have a hand saw, I'd drill some holes.

well i think you should look for the thing that says ''DANGER'' on the back and see if it says anything like ''do not drink'' or something. If it does say something like that then i think you should call your vet and ask what they think about it. If the bottle or what ever the stuff is( if it was not in a package or you do not have it any more then look it up on the internet) does not say anything about it being Poison then i think your cat might be fine, but most likely not because if it is chemicals then usually it's bad. If it does not say anything about a ''WARNING'' then just watch the cat closely and make sure it is not doing weird things! Hope this HELPS! oh and have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Drilling Holes In Christmas Tree

Munya Carr is on track with the best way to hydrate your Christmas tree.

After you empty the excess water from the tree stand and dry off the area of the truck that will be in the water. Drill holes in the trunk as Munya suggested,

Then after you re-secure the tree/trunk back in the stand instead of plain tap water in the stand....mix sugar with the water and pour that mix into the stand. It will speed the absorption and it will feed the tree and the needles.

Take KNIFE AN CUT the side of the tree below the water line at a slant an you need to add some sugar it will make the tree last longer you do not have to make the cuts real deep just below the bark

Ummm....I was gonna say saw off the bottom inch, but since you said "dont say that"...
How about this---drill a bunch of holes all along the perimeter (empty the water out first, duh!) where it'd "drink" it up...maybe that will work.

Good luck, hope that helps, and Merry Christmas to you and your's!

Just went on Yahoo! Answers with the very same question. Thanks for saving me 5 points. I guess I'll be getting my drill out.
