my theory is that they are really very clean because no one ever sits on them, thinking that they are realy dirty when in fact they have never been touched?

I wish that was true, but more often than not (in women's restrooms) I see urine all over the seat because someone did not sit on the seat so it went everywhere except for in the bowl like it is supposed to. Sick!

lol you know i'm not gonna insult you because you did have you're own logic behind it, which was a bit clever. but i think if you think about it more, the reason they have those sanitary papers in the first place is because there ARE indeed people that do sit on it still, so it's for safety precaution. but i mean if everyone did think the way you did, then yes it would be sanitary, being untouched. however this is the real world, and not everybody is always "clean" lol, in fact, most of them are lazy and those seats may be dirty!! lol good thinking though, bye

It's a matter of sanitation and safety.
It's really very clean because no one seats on them(physical cleanliness but not all the time)
It's really dirty when in fact they have never been touched(people secrete dirty unsafe substances so people tend to think that it's dirty. It is)
It's common knowledge but you have put them into words. Nice idea.. Good theory. ü

I'm a guy. I don't worry about such things like ladies do.
I most of non-tourist Mexico, there are no toilet seats -- everyone just "hovers" over the toilet. I guess that would make you ladies happier?
Yes, I leave the seat up. The germs slide off that way.

Im sorry your theory is wrong they do sit on the toilets & some can be very dirty if fact it very unsanitary to sit on a public toilet cause you don't know what butt sat on there last ......

actually, you're right. If I ever drop a piece of candy on the floor, I run to the nearest public bathroom and rub it all over the seat to get it clean and then eat it.

You can worry about the toilet seats.Better then 90% of all public door handles have human feces on them.Whats this, finger through the paper and forget to wash your hands.Just disgusting pigs a guess.

From what I've seen the women who "hover" don't do a very good job as they usually leave sprinkles everywhere.

there are more germs and stuff that fly around those places that theres no way they are clean
plus oder carrys a germ if there not cleaned and ,most ive been to arent.
