On my lap-top there is the touch pad thingy instead of a mouse like on desk-tops, well on this touch pad thing, if you tap the touch pad twice quickly, or once rather hard, it will be like you pushed the left clicker button.

Is this on every lap-top, or is mine just f'ed up?

And if you know how, could you please tell me how to turn off this
"one hard tap = one click" bull crap...

That's a normal feature for laptops, and actually comes in pretty handy.

If you really want to turn it off, go to the start menu, pick Control Panel, and then Mouse. You probably have the Synaptic drivers installed if you're getting the double-click stuff working, so click on the "TouchPad" tab in the Mouse Properties window. Turn off "Tap to Click" and click ok.

All laptops do that. But no, you can not turn off the one hard tap = one click" thingimagig.
If you have a Dell laptop, you can turn off that feature.
Just click on the icon that puts up a green or blue dot when you press the touchpad. Click on "Pointing Device Properties". Then click on the "Touchpad" tab. Then uncheck "Tap to click". Click apply, close it, You are done

it's a synaptics touch pad. and yes they all do that. but YES you can turn it off

Either the synaptics icon over by the clock or go to control panel and click mouse on either there is a “device settings” tab and another box under that says settings from there find the “tapping” section and disable it

This is quite normal, you can change the touchpad settings...the settings will either be located under the Mouse settings in Control panel, or there will be a seperate Touchpad icon in the Control panel

change the settings there to your own preferences

often there is a Fn key which can also disable the touchpad (for when you are typing)

It's normal on some laptops, some don't have that feature.
