If you had 100g of water (H2O)...
how many grams of Oxygen would you have?
how many grams of Hydrogen would you have?

100 grams of water. You would do this by figuring out how many moles of water is in 100 grams. So the molar mass of water is 18grams per 1 mole so 18 grams/1mole. 100/18 ~ 5.56 moles of water right? Since theres only 1 O in H20 it would be 5.56 moles for oxygen and then double moles for hte H2 because its H2. To get hte grams of oxygen you would do 5.56 x the molar weight of oxygen which is 16 g/mol ( you would usually use 32 when there is oxygen gas then it would be 32g/mol) so 16 multiplied by 5.56 is 88.96g. Then Hydrogen would be 5.56 x 2 (H20 <--- has 2 H so it's doubled) 11.12 moles of H. You would multiply the 11.12 by the molar mass of Hydrogen which is one. So you would end up with 11.12 grams of hydrogen
