I'm 13 and I've been thinking about taking ballet lessons...I've never done it before and I have no experience in dance at all! But i want to try something new and I'm flexible and can keep my balance. Ballet seems very elegant but I'm sure it's difficult! My violin teacher who is 20 takes ballet and she's one of my favorite people in this world! Also my brother's girlfriend takes ballet and so does one of my best friends...should I try it? I don't know if it's too late because lots of people started ballet when they were really little! Also, about how much money would these lessons be? Please tell me a little bit about ballet if you do it. Do you like it? I don't know if it would be too hard for me or there are bad things about ballet. Please give me some info and suggestions! Thanks! ♥

hello.
ballet is an amazing dance to do. i've been doing it since i was 3 and i've been on pointe since i was 8. I'm a freshman in Highschool but have gotten a scholarship already to go to Julliard in New York for pointe and violin. so yeah..i love it..

but to answer you question...

if you are fleixible that is very good. you need to be. You want to work on building your ankle strengh too. It's never to late to start dancing. You just have to love it. But the cost matters about what company you join and how long the class will be. the materials you need...like...leotards, shoes, skirts gets kinda expensive.

ballet you must be very smooth and not a very slouchy person. Since you play violin, you're use to classical music...which it good.

just dont be discouraged when you see people your age doing more difficult things. think in your head that you do this for fun and anything is possible. one day you will be at that level if you stick with it.

hope i helped! [ :

definitely! you can find a teen beginning ballet class somewhere in your city (if it's a nice sized one) for not too much money. you may want to just make sure you're doing it because you really want to though, and not just because you admire other people that do it. you need to find something you love to do, and go for it- no matter what it is or how old or young you are! try ballet out, and if that doesn't do it for you, try other dance classes. i didn't start dancing until i was 15! it's never too late. if you are interested in any dance though, ballet is the like the base that all other dancing styles come from, so it's really good to have some training in it!

Hi,

I've been doing ballet for 13 years (I'm 20) and it was the best thing I ever did. It is a beautiful style of dance and you will learn alot. It can be difficult in parts if you haven't had any dance training, but thats the whole point of taking classes. It is not just a hobby, it is a discipline...you will learn things like good posture, impeccable balance and grace. You will find that you will walk and sit and stand differently, probably better. There are different 'academy' of balled. If you are in Australia or england (possibly some of europe too) you will likley do RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) which is headed by the Queen, or AAD (Australian Academy of Dance) in Australia. In Ameria you will learn the American Academy of Dance sylibus. There are also different styles of ballet fom all over the world.

Make sure you find a ballet school with a good reputation, and ask to come in and watch a class, to give you an idea of what you will be learning. Explain to them that you are a beginner, and although you may be put in a class with younger students, it is better to start there and work your way up, than start in an advanced class and not have a clue. Most dance schools do annual performances, so you will have to learn set routines, and as time goes on you may do solos.

Ballet cost wise, can be expensive, but it depend on where you go. Some dance schools have required uniforms (style, colour) and they can vary in price. Some give you the option of what colour and style leotard you want to wear. Ballet uniforms generally consist of a leotard, pink ballet tights, a ballet skirt, a cross over (for cooler weather), leg warmers (for warm ups and cool weather) and ballet shoes - which will be flat ballet shoes for you, and as you advance, pointe shoes (dancing on your toes).

Ballet will help you built muscle tone, and you will learn how to hold yourself better. Should you not want to start in straight ballet at the beginning, find a dance school that offers all different types of dance and do a year or so of Contemporary or Jazz-Ballet first, as they focus on movement and positioning, and then do ballet, so you have a bit of dance experience.

i hope I helped.

Also, you are never too old to learn how to dance!

Absolutely! I took ballet when I was very young (4-8 years old), had to stop for a while to make time for other classes I was taking outside of school, and then took another class when I started college (at 18 - it was like starting all over, but I had a great time). It is a very beautiful and physically challenging form of dance, and is definitely worth trying if you are interested. Also, once you learn the basics of ballet, you can apply them to every other style of dance. It is never too late to learn and explore new things!

I'm also 13 and i have been doing it for a couple of years but i don't think its ever to late to start ballet. It can get hard but its so fun and teaches you other things too! And I can't say much about the coast because i would guess it just depends on where you take lessons. I hope that this helps!!

Good luck!!!!!

Just make sure you'll have fun. That's easy to lose track of because of all the discipline. Now I just take modern dance or flamenco and they're a lot of fun. They take discipline, too but it's fun to do something new. Just do what makes you happy. If you do a little ballet, your body will be prepared to take on different dance types later, too.

Yes!
It's fun and youll gain felxibility and balance and more!
The lessons can cost around 30 bucks, but it depends what studio u go to
Ballet is very hard, yet it looks beatiful and effortless. You use almost all your mucles. If u r advanced enough you go onto pointe, which is dancing on your toes.
First go to a studio with free trial classes see if you like it
u need to be willing to work hard, be on time, nad willing to take corrections and mistakes.
You need your hair up and of your face with a leotard, tights and optionally a skirt, legwarmer or a shrug.
Try it! Its fun for me-hope this helps,

Ballet is one of the most challenging forms of dance. If you want to DANCE, pick a different medium. If you really want to learn BALLET, go for it! I did ballet for almost 10 years, and dance helps you in so many areas of life. Go for it!

I dont dance...not good at it, but like you i also wanted to try something new, so i did. I found out i have a really good singing voice this summer and i have beat out people at talent shows that have been singing for years....Go For It! Age and experience didn't matter to me, who knows you might be a fast learner and get good at it, i am. So go for it, besides you got nothing to lose. BTW im 17, and started singing in July, the kid i beat out was 19 and has been singing since he was 5! :)

Hey! I've been taking dance since i was 2 but a lot of my friends started up too. They like it, but i reccomend taking a different type of class, like modern or jazz at the same time because it prevents you from being restricted to one form of dance. . .
