Under their picture on their profile, there is a box that has ways to contact them and one of them says add to friends and you click that and it will bring you to another page where you just have to click add to friends again and then they will be your friend if they accept to be added to your friends list.

Yes, like they said but u can also leave the person a message that is also in the same box as add friends...just a bit more info. 4 u

once you do add them as the other answer says... you can keep going to your mail section then click on pending request and it will inform you if they have added you yet or not
