Or just please tell me what companies look for, in a person they're interviewing, for a job position in their businesses? Example, office position.

Smile. When you shake hands, have a firm grip. Look at your interviewer in the eye. Answer questions clearly and be articulate. Answer honestly. If you don't know the answer to something, say "I don't know". Ask questions about the company you are interviewing with, and the job you would be doing. Never state what salary you are looking for. If asked, just say it's "negotiable". If asked to give a range, don't give an answer, say "what range are you offering?". Never complain about prior jobs or prior bosses. Just say you are leaving your old job because you aren't being challenged enough. Good luck!

During the interview, don't chew gum. Make eye contact and be sure to dress professionally. Be sure to research the company a little and show off your knowledge of that. Display confidence and be prepared for questions like 'what are some of your strengths / weaknesses?' or 'what can you bring to our company?' Oh, and don't ever be the first to ask about pay unless the interviewer didn't mention it first and the interview is nearly over.

I agree with "be yourself" and "be professional".

Also, realize that your interviewers are trying to figure out from your answers what you can do for them in that job! Make it easy for them to figure it out. When you state what you've done in other jobs or what you studied, show how your experience relates to the job.

An example might be..."The job sounds like it calls for someone to work well under pressure. When I was in school, I learned to work under pressure by managing my priorities, etc. I would apply similar strategies to the job."

It easier to relate your experience and what you learned from it to the job if you know something about the company and what's expected of someone in the job. So spend some time at least studying the job description.

If you think about it, you'll be surprised at how much you have done on a day to day basis that can apply to how you approach your job.

Good luck!

I was once asked "What can you bring to our program?" I was completely unprepared for it and just stared at the interviewer for what seemed like an eternity. Since then, I've been asked that question several times, and been prepared!

Just be yourself. I do job interviews. What we look for is someone that's classy, looks nice, organized, neat, good personal hygene, and you have to be smart. Other than that, just answer honestly.
