You can't teach religion at a public school. But you just need your teaching credentials. Which are essentially, a teaching degree or certification to be a teacher. Most four year colleges offer a Bachelor's degree in teaching or education, so that you can be certified to teach. Cost depends on whether or not you go to a public or private college and which state you decide to go to. It could range anywhere from a couple thousand to $30,000 or more. Like I said, it depends on which school you decide to attend.

You can't teach religion in (public) high school.

Usually you'll need a Bachelor's degree and a teaching credential (another 1-2 years after the 4 year degree) to teach. Since it seems like you're looking for a job in a private school, the salary range is pretty broad, expect between $30-50,000 a year.

Most public high schools require a Master's degree to teach -- roughly two years beyond the Bachelor's -- but generally don't have religion teachers. The pay is crap, anyway, to start.

Most religious high schools only require a Bachelor's to teach. The pay is worse and stays that way longer.

Good luck!
