in earlier times witches had a vast knowledge of herbs, plants and animals which allowed them to heal diseases and illnesses, along with helping to bring children into the world as mid-wives. therefore in earlier times witches might have been though to be forerunners of homeopathic medicine practices. in modern times witches may practice their magic but the benefits to mankind have been taken over by the medical profession.

the only difference between witches of old days and witches of new days is nothing but the time and society they live in or lived in.
There is no indication that witches of old days were all female, save for the few remaining pieces of cult memoribilia of Dianic-0esque traditions. Broomstick brand? Why not make it yourself...it means more. Organization into covens only played a part for witches that wished to be a part of a coven, since witchcraft was never and never will be an orthodoxed religion their is no central governing body that makes decisions for pagans world wide.knowledge of plants was know then and is known today, used then and used today....there is no difference save for the technological advances that have been applied to herbology. Activities shrouded in secrecy???? Well wouldn't you hide what you were doin' if someone had bigger guns than you?

It depends on the "witch" Most of us are still shrouded in secrecy, only because of on-going persecution, Some are Coven initiates, others are solitary. Some are heavily into herbal healing, candle and mineral Magick (but not all). We are certainly not all female, it is pretty close to 50/50. Most of us are not broom dependent, I have a lovely vacuum cleaner! (LMAO). But I do have one (handmade) for ceremonies, as well as my athame, brass bell & other assorted items.

"Witches" of earlier times were, 99% of the time, not witches at all.
Midwives, the mentally unstable, dangerously intelligent, free-thinking or even just plain unpopular were accused of "witchcraft" and executed. They weren't witches, they didn't claim to be witches, they did not practice witchcraft.

None of them, the witches haven't changed their practices, the church still hates them.
The only thing different is the law that you can't burn them.
I find it humerous that we burnt witches in the country that preaches religous freedom

Oh god, where to begin.
Try EVERYTHING. Every.Bloody.Little.Thing.
Even their attitudes. I'd've probably got along with some only-potentially-existing-
prehistorical-witch.
Closest thing to a historical witch is a herbalist.

it's NONE of those, except for knowledge and use of plants. since you know NOTHING about real witches--not black-painted finger-nailed, all dressed in black wiccan neo-witches, but real witches from prehistory, ancient greece, rome, celts...i'd suggest you read my book--you can find it at amazon.com, but you don't know my real name.

no difference. Both befriending low level Spirits, or mischievious Spirits. Either way, they are asking for trouble, and usually find it.
