Because it's society. People, when you talk to them one-on-one, are pretty smart. But get them together in a group and their collective IQ goes down. Wayyyyyy down. It's all part of the herd mentality. It's helped us to survive as a species, but doesn't do much for individual thought.

I've been wondering that for many years now. I would think one reason is that many are not educated and even if they are educated they can be mindless and idotic. I would need to know what your defination of stupid is because I have such a large definition of stupid. Many act on their "id" and do whatever feels good to them and not think of the concequences of their actions. The problem is is that most people DON'T THINK! They act, speak, and react without stoping to think. The media feeds stupidity as does the music industry.

you know i tried to answer your question by starting off with the usual response of "well, not everyone is stupid, just ignorant.." but then i realized that in this modern time there is no reason to be ignorant...there is information all around you. Even if you don't realize it, your mind is probably taking note of everything...there is no excuse for anyone not knowing better...
