I would take the conference winner from each of the six major conferences and the two highest BCS rated teams outside of those six conference winners. And I would seed them by their final BCS rank, with the two non BCS conference winners being 7 and 8.

if i were to work it like the ncaa basketball tourny it would look like this:

2)florida-7)auburn

playoff with these teams until the last 2 for the national championship........my prediction would be #1 ohio st vs. #2 florida after it is all said and done.and i think ohio st will win this game
