Hi, I'm a 19 year old, female, whom isn't sexually active. I had a pap smear that came back abnormal, so my gyno done a colposcopy on me and took a biopsy of my cervix. Today, I got the results back stating that I'm close to having cancer, so they're going to freeze it out next month of the 15th. Ever since, I've been quite devistated and distraught. You can see that I've been upset in my appearance. I have bags under my eyes, my eyes are droopy, I look pale, and as weird as it may sound, my lips are even swelled from crying so much. Also, I can't keep anything down. I've gotten to the point to where my mother had to make me bathe and do proper hygiene 'cause I'm so depressed. Now, we're talking about a girl here whom use to bathe once to three times a day, depending on how dirty she felt (I have obsessive compulsive disorder flare ups at times). So, what can I do to bring me out of this stage of depression. And please, no smart *** answers. I'm quite not in the mood for it.

I have JUST went through this. Went through the same steps as you however the freezing didn't work so had to get it burned off. I just went back last week and got the ALL clear that everything is fine. I went through a deep depression, and unfortunately I don't think anything anyone would tell me helped.
Just know that this IS one of the best cancers to heal with the pre-cancerous cells and them knowing just by a pap. It is healable. If for some reason this doesn't work there are other options.
If I were you I would talk to your ob, see if he can prescribe something if only temporarily to help you with your depression. Because in a year this will all be a bad memory. Remember this is one of THE EASIEST things to "cure".
Good Luck

First thing you do is take a deep breath, and don/t look at this as a death Sentence. Cancer has become more and more controllable. Lean on your faith as you know it, then educate yourself. You have the world at your finger tips is the computer you typed that message on.
Cancer can be treated, worry amplifies your bodies inability to set up a defense. Don't be afraid to confide in a Teacher, friend, or person you respect.
It is said that the only Miner Cancer or surgery belongs to someone else.
Your young you should be strong, and that is in your favor. OW HAVING SAID ALL THAT, again try to relax the surgery is relatively simple, and they will be sure to examine the surrounding tissue, and keep going till the get a clean lab back.
You are going to be fine. As far as the compulsive disorder, I am a Alcoholic(23 years sober) Compulsive in everything I do. I scream the Serenity Prayer at times but it gets me through.
Hang in there you will be raising your own family looking back at this as a learning experience before you know it.

I'm a 25 year old female. First of all, it seems like they caught this early and they're going to take care of it. Second, in September of last year I was diagnosed with lymphoma (cancer) and I'm still alive, healthy and happy after 8 months of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. Don't let the word cancer scare you. Cancer cells are just cells in our body that have begun to multiply abnormally rather than dying. Since they know you have pre-cancerous cells there, they will remove them and make sure they don't come back. Try to stay positive about this. :)

Think about it this way- if you hadn't found out about it, a few years from now you would find out you have cancer, possibly after it became terminal. You would die from cancer and that would be the end. Fortunately, that's not what happened. You're a lucky one girl. They found out what was happening before it could even develop into cancer. People who think they are dying soon are happy to live for the moment every moment that they have, and you have many more moments to live, so you should be even happier.

Take a b50 or b100 complex tablet daily along with methacobalamin 5 mg daily and folic acid 0.4 mg 2 tabs 3 times daily. A good multiple vitamin with minerals would probably be a good idea too. This helped my wife with her cervidal dysplasia. Good luck!

Hon, please try not to be so upset. You are gonna make yourself so sick. You know years ago, I had the same procedure done, but everything came back ok. I'm sure things will work out just fine. You are young, and you can get through this. You definately need to eat. Just pray about it, and try to relax. I know it's hard, but you will be in my prayers. Take care.
