i cashier at a hospital cafeteria (i often work alone from 2p-5 after the morning people go home. not too long ago a man (appeared out of nowhere) and said he and his family were not satisfied with our food and wanted a money refund. 2 months later-same story. 1 month later SAME STORY. he paces back and forth, hands in pocket and acts upset about the dis-satisfaction. first he says it was 34 dollars then when my lead asks him about it over the phone and tells him she cant authorize that much money refund, he says he never said that, and changes the story to 20 dollars or so. so she says just give it to him so he wont harass me any longer, so i do so. my main manager finds out about it and is mad and says if he ever shows up to press my security panic button and get away from him. however my manager refuses to let a 2nd co-worker work with me at nights on the weekends due to funding- this scamming man knows when im alone and knows when my manager is in, he purposely comes when im alone.

It would seem that you would be "safe" in this environment. I suggest taking the course to determine how you feel with your own ability. I think that feeling safe because of your own ability is much better than having some random person sitting with you. Another idea is to make friends with security. Let them know what is happening, perhaps on their rounds they will stop more frequently to check on you. IF the guy shows up and has no purpose other than to harrass you about a meal he had there, I would suggest hitting the panic button and asking him to return during the hours when your manager is there to get a refund.

security measures must be in place now for you to use in this case ,...in which i mean there are security agents on staff thruout the hours of cafe. operation...they are trained in those areas of which you need help with ....seek them immediately for your personal protection.
