If you went to a psychologist, and he was a guy (given that a guy raped you), how would you react? Would you try to trust him or be completely against him? Explain please.

Having assisted in the counselling of women who have been raped, they in every case WOULD NOT at first seek out Psychologists who were male.
It goes without saying the degredation they feel of being raped and the last thing is trying to talk it over with male.
In time this changes in some cases BUT most I have been involved with prefer to stay with Female Psychologists and Counsellors.....♥

First off I am a Rape Survivor not a rape victim.

I went to a psychologist who was a male and to be honest I was fine with him...but this was a few years after the incident and to be honest I can see some women having trouble going to a male or trusting any male right away....it just happens your guard is up.

I am usually pretty open with people but if I get a certain drift or feeling from a person my guard goes up...and it is usually right I only get these feelings once in a great while so if I did get a feeling from a male psychologist I would probably find a different person. You cannot be helped by a person you do not trust. Regardless if the person is a saint or not.

What if the rapist had red hair, if the psychologist had red hair too would that be a problem as well? I think that you would feel betrayed in all kinds of ways, so trusting anyone would be a long slow process. Everyone is different right, it would be up to the rape victim to figure out who s/he could trust.

I would feel uneasy yet explain my situation depending on the circumstance and the severity of it, a woman could hold back some scenes of the incident due to shame to reveal.

I'd try to trust him. Just because of what happened does not mean I should be against all men. ...i think it would be interesting...
