Hi theboy,

Good question, although perhaps a better way of looking at it is "why is the colour red associated with St Valentine's Day?"...

In European traditional art and folklore, the heart symbol which is now one of the symbols of "Love" and can be seen everywhere on Valentine's Day is typically coloured red, suggesting both blood and, in many cultures, passion and strong emotion.

It and diamonds are the two red suits in most playing card decks. The shape is particularly associated with romantic poetry; it is often seen on St. Valentine's Day cards, chocolate boxes, and similar popular culture artifacts as a symbol of romantic love.

I hope that helped ;)

I know why all of the holidays have thier color. Like you wanted to know, Valentines Day, I will start with.

Valentines Day- Red and Pink because those are the colors of love. You love with your heart and your heart is red.

Halloween- Orange because that's the color of pumpkins. Black because that is suposed to be a dead color, Halloween is aka the day of the dead.

Cristmas- Green because that is the color of a Christmas tree. Red because Santa wears red and green and red look good together. lol.

April Fools Day- Green because that is what the leprachons wear.

Earth Day- Green because that's the color of healthy plants and trees.

Thanksgiving- Orange because that's the color of a pumpkin witch you eat in a pie, and brown because that's the color of a turkey.

It's the color of the heart, which is the symbol of love. Valentines Day is about love. Actually, it's about Christian love and kindness toward others but that part has been lost over time.

Because when the greeting card companies made up Valentine's Day some years ago, they decided that reds and pinks are good colors for Valentine's. Period.
