Setup a contest that requires participants to buy tickets. Make it something that costs nothing except ticket stubs and time.
Give the winner a portion of the money raised, and give the rest to your teacher.
Make sure its something most people can do, and there is luck and skill required.
I did a similar thing in my office with a pinball tournament. Tickets were $5 and the prize was $50. We raised only $145, but only 18 people participated. If you have access to more people, and get help with selling tickets, you could raise a lot of money.

Forever Living Products are a home business looking for more people. Their recruitment site is www.efi-international.com
They are a $2 billion company backed by Dti and Office of fair trading and you can work at home doing it. Typically people get £1200 per month after 5 months with no investment required
I highly recommend them

you could make holiday cards or wrap presents for people, run errands, clean your house/ do chores, or organize some fundraisers like selling chocolate or somthin even though it may be a little late for that but w.e., bake sales, a party and charge for admittance or refreshments, caroling just in time for the holidays!, and you could also try to just get simple plain donations like everyone that is her student bring 2$ or 3$ that should help or you could do a raffle or an art auction using pieces students made

Organize a car wash in warm regions or shovel the sidewalks for people in snowy regions.
Good luck!
