It's still legal in Washington and New Hampshire, however the last hanging in the US was of Rainey Bethea, on August 14, 1936, in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Actually the info on the internet about Washington state is wrong...not updated. I live in Washington and we have not offered hanging as an option for at least 10 years because an idiot on death row was too heavy to hang and he knew it so that is how he chose to die so they changed the laws.

i dont think any actually still execute by hanging, they mostly use lethal injections now.
