technically, new years comes first (its the "new year" after all, and the first day of the first month) but it always seems to come after christmas...but our calendar is circular anyway, so i guess both...

Well New Year. It's the first day of the year.Christmas comes 358 days after.Another day later in a leap year
You know what they say "it's only a week from Christmas to New Year, but a long long time from New Year to Christmas"

New Year's Day comes first. It's the first day of the year... Christmas just comes really later and seems like it comes first, but it really doesn't

In the year-the new year comes before christmas does (january comes before december in the year)
However, in the "holiday season" christmas comes first (beginning of vacation) and new years comes after (end of vacation)
Hope this helps =)

if you are referring from this point in time, it is christmas 24 & 25 and then new year's Dec. 31 & Jan 1 but if you are referring to the way it is in the calander year it is first New Year's day then christmas.

Technically it would be New Year, as it happens at 12:01 am on the new year, where as Christmas takes place 12 months later.

It depends on what faith or nationality you are.
Some faiths don't celebrate Christmas until the 5th of Jan.
