It really doesn't "tend to" break. The worst thing that will happen is that it'll go flying out of your hands, and break something else. There is only one reported case of this causing a broken Wiimote (http://www.wiihaveaproblem.com), though many other things break.
But this is a very small portion of the populace. These people probably were playing much more excessively than one needs to play, and are the type of people who throw bats when swinging in baseball.

no but a new flaw has ben found in them
when ur imitating swinging a sword or tenis racket or something like that the strap can break easily causing the remote to fly out of ur hand and bust the tv and the remote

On kotaku, there have been a few reports of the Wii remote's strap breaking, even one from one of the editors. The strap on the editor's remote broke while some 12-or-so-year-old kids were playing.

not that i know of, what they are probably refering to is that some people dont know how to keep a grip on it and when they swing it around too viscously it slips out of there hand and hits wall, floors, etc. most people dont use the strap that comes with it. it only breaks because of the users carelesness

yes infact there has already been alot of lawsuits of them breaking on first use,or not working out of box, and also nintendo admits to not testing the controler more than once,and that was to see if the moving thing worked,
