Anyone know of a place that don't charge too much to get you top search engine placement. The company that use to host my site use to do it for free and it lasted 2 years. Now they charge $100 a month which is a little too much for me.

It's all about metadata. Title, description, keywords, and keyword frequency will boost your rankings. It is a science on how to boost your web site. These companies that charge $1000's don't do anything magical. They just know how to optimize the code and content to favor popular search engines such as Google.
Buy a book on SEO and you will how to promote organic searches.
