Does the BCS need a playoff?

If you will make a playoff you need the big 6 conferences to get an automatic bid, its only fair. If you have an 8 team tourney then you have OSU, Wake, Oklahoma, Louisville, Florida, and USC. 2 at larges would be Michigan and LSU.
Look who you leave out: Boise, Auburn, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, WVU, and Arkansas all good teams that can compete. Thats why I say: go back to 11 game regular season. And have a 12-16 team playoff.
If you say 16 is too many, i say this: Div 1-AA has 16 teams why should 1-A be different?

The top 16 are the elite teams 17-25 no one deserves. Plus you could have the playoffs start at the beginning of bowl season so it doesnt go on forever.

I don't watch much college football for exactly that reason. Who's number 1? No one knows. It's done by computer for goodness' sake. On sports radio, everyone is whining about Florida playing Ohio State. If Michigan kicks the crap out of USC and Ohio State gets the snot knocked out of them, can you imagine all the second guessing about the whole BCS system? Look at the NFL, the Steelers were a wild card game and won the super bowl. There was some whining about the officiating in the game, but no one was whining because the Steelers made it their. The deserved to be there because they won the games to get there/ Does this make any sense?

COLLEGE FOOTBALL needs a playoff system, scrap the BCS altogether. It's the only major sport I know of that does not have a true championship playoff system.
