because i was taught and still is i m still in my teens or preteen or how old you think i am i am never to young to get whopped but someone i know never got a whoppin after turning seven even when they should have.

A lot of parents will say " you're never too old for a whoopin ", but I believe there is a thin line between discipline and abuse. A spankin should be reserved for shock value. Such as; a young child darts into the street without even looking. But that's about it. To spank a child for backtalk, ignoring you, not cleaning up after himself or even for hitting someone ONLY teaches that child that violence solves conflict. I have two children; 8 and 12. And each of them have had only 2 spankings in their life. It wasn't even really a spanking; rather a swat on the rear.

You're never too old for an 'attitude adjustment'. I stopped getting spanked at 9, but my mom would still give me a slap if I deserved till I turned 14. The I made the mistake of grabbing her arm when she tried to smack me. She sent me to my grandfather. I'm 19 now and this 65 year old man can still whip my tail when I screw up. But when you screw up you should get whooped, that's the problem with some people nowadays, their parents don't give a dang and punish them when they need it.

Around 6 or 8... after that it really wouldn't have the same effect. There are other ways to punish a teen... Although my daughter is 4 and I just take TV time or a favorite toy away... it works.

Well from my mother I only got about 4 whuppings my whole life, I stopped getting them around 6, and I never got a whupping from my dad. I guess I can say that I'm very lucky.

You should stop gettin' your **** tanned when you're 18 and are no longer your parents responsibility, legally. Until then, you have no rights, obey the rules of the house and show respect to those that have fed you thus far. When you're 18, your **** is on the street. Then you have "rights".
