My husband and I have spent many Christmases together, but this will be the first Christmas we spend together alone. So, this year I would like to get him something extra special. I always get him little gits and gagets like clippers and Eddie Bayor accessories, but I would like to go all out this year. He is beginning to really get into his music now. He makes beats on his laptop along with his mini keyboard, but the real reason (I think) he's getting into this is because he is about to go out for a 6 month deployment. So with all of that said...what do you think I should get him for this Christmas?

Why not see if you could get in on the action, and do something creative? What if you wrote him some original song lyrics and had him make the beats/music for it. Even if it's not that great, he will probably love the fact that you are so into what he likes and when he is gone on his deployment, he will always have the song you both created together. If not, a recording session would work or some good software for his laptop like music creator which will help him create, record and playback all of his music!

Well, if you don't have a video recorder, he'll appreciate one of those while on deployment and so will you. Anything that will document his new experience.

Obviously if there is something he needs for his music you'll want to get him that too, but I would feel him out about what it is he wants because as a musician he likely has a very specific idea about what he wants to do. And, you're right, he'll need something creative to do to pass the time, and if it's something that doesn't require too much trouble, all the better. Not a lot of bells and whistle, probably--I don't know if he'll be able to take it all with him...

Something along the lines of a Korg maybe? Run it by him?

I have the perfect gift you can give to him. I call it a "themed" gift. And the theme is "Stimulating the Five Senses". Basically, you would buy a gift specifically for each of the five senses. You can take it one step further and try to make it music-related, but it's much more fun when you're just being creative. Just remember: sight, hear, touch, taste, and smell. With the presentation of each gift, he can try it out.

purchase one of those picture frames that record a message
place your picture in the frame and record your favorite song
(perhaps one of his) There is a frame that is small enough for him to keep on his person. He listen and look as often as he would like. God bless and keep all who fight for our freedom
peace be the journey
I will pray for swift healthy return for all and ...
thanks
