It depends on the attitudes of the people involved. me for instance I met my husband in last april we were married in december. then I know people they might have dated 4 years, 8 years, some after a year, I've heard of some after a few days. so it depends on how quickly people fall in love. some are all to willing to jump in deep, others are slow and steady. I know dating can be a challenge but if you can find someone you can fall for and they fall back thats half the battle. and you have to ask the right questions because some people will be kind and loving but not want that sense of commitment.

The only answer I can give you on this is that you will know in your heart when! I don't think there is a magical date number for you to know.

6 months to a year. Dont rush it as you will only regret it. Take time to get to know someone.
