However, a lot of coats that are made to resemble camel hair is actually synthetic or made from wool.

all camel coats that I've ever seen are wool. It's the golden/tan color that's called Camel.

It's the hide and yes, camel hide feels a lot like suede. My wife has a coat made of lama hide, and it also feels like suede to the touch.

i once had a pair of camel skin boots boy did they make my feet perspire and they smelt awful so i chucked them out ,they were called desert boots by the way .
