Very rare! But on March 11th, 2006 the areas surrounding the metro area did receive snow fall. The official weather report for Phoenix is taken at Sky Harbor Airport and there was no snowfall recorded on that day, officially.
The last time we had snow in the greater Phoenix area was on December 6, 1998. The snow was in the northeast part of the Valley. It still didn't officially count for Phoenix, however, because there was only a trace of snow at Sky Harbor. The last time there was officially measurable snow in Phoenix was in 1937.

Yep, on occassion it snows in the Valley, but it is a rarity and melts pretty quick if it makes it to the ground at all. Last year, there was a pretty good snowstorm for 2-hours in the Cave Creek area (North metro Phx). Also snows in other parts of Arizona, the Sunrise Ski Resort outside ShowLow just opened today.

Yes when I was a toddelor it snowed I remember playing in the snow with my parents my sister and my brother. It was probably about 1990 or 89. That was so awsome. I'll never forget that. But now we live Chicago we have for six and half years.
