Call me a hopeless romantic but, no, I don't think "true love" can turn to hatred because, to truly love someone, you understand them and accept them for who they are (not for who you want them to be) so, if they do something hurtful, you may remove yourself from them but you don't wish them harm.
For example, I truly loved an exboyfriend and he hurt me but I can see that he can't help being hurtful. He had a very dysfunctional childhood. I have broken off all contact and wouldn't dream of getting back together with him but I still wish things had been different and I wish him no harm.
I can no more hate him for what he did than I can hate my dog for barking or for shedding or for engaging in other typical dog behavior. Dogs are dogs. If you are going to own dogs, then you accept that they come with a certain price tag. Damaged folks are damaged folks. If the price tag is too high, then you distance yourself from them but you don't HATE them.

It matters two individuals, The lover & the loved ones, depends on their integrity, minds, situations & many more factors. But it's possible, for sure.
