The majority of people are ordinary hard working people like you or me.They take care of their family, the coach little league, volunteer at nursing homes, do Meals on Wheels to shut ins, they donate blood, donate organs,do fund raising for numerous charities, they sponsor the needy overseas, the join the P.T.A.,they drive cancer patients to their treatments, they share their talents (crafts, drawing, jewelry.model cars, etc) become big brothers or big sisters, take first aid courses just in case, they join the Red Cross. I could go on and on but I think I've made my point. Their are so many good people out there that touch many lives in a positive way and all you can see is the drug dealer, the petty thief, vandals etc. I guess we see what we want to see.Life is good for most of us. Many people want to share their gift of time with others to make someone else's life be a little better.

Depends on how you look at it. Music-wise, today's music is better than the '90s though nothing compares to music of the '80s. I wish there were more guys with long hair..

Politics-wise, we are a divided country. We're divided on gay marriage and abortion. I do foresee gay marriage being legalized someday, since gays are a minority group. But right now half the country is hung up on the definition of marriage.

Abortion is the harder issue because half the country sees it as a woman's right, the other half sees it as the child's right. Our country is based on human rights and when it comes to abortion, no matter which side you're on, it's about the rights of a person and their body. I think in the end abortion will stay legal because people know that if a woman really wants to have an abortion she will go to any length to get it, even if it kills her, which is why abortion was legalized - so that women could have safe abortions. And also people notice how the country is becoming overpopulated and figure why bring an unwanted child into the world when other kids are starving?

Fashion-wise, I miss guys with long hair, there's not enough of them. I'm glad there's less guys shaving their heads, I didn't care for that. I'm glad that modeling agencies are starting to reject really skinny models even though I'm also skinny - too many girls and women have anorexia in this country. Personally I like curvy women, I think they're hot. I also like the low-cut tops and low-rider jeans - they're sexy.

An aspect of society I don't like - the fast-paced work environment. Yes, everyone wants it NOW, but too many people make errors when they're under pressure. How many times have you gone through the drive-thru of a fast-food restaurant and discovered they didn't get your order right? It seems like nobody has patience anymore...

Crime: Today's society is less violent than the early '90s, which is a good thing. Though hate crimes against transgender people is up, so we have to work on that.

Speaking of transgender people, society is becoming a little more open and there's so much information out there, that there are more and more people coming out as transgender in our society. As more come out, the more we have to create laws that apply to them since there are issues that arise out of someone transitioning from one gender to the other.

Finally, women are more independent and a bit more equal than they were in the past, though we still have a way to go. Racial minorities still have their struggles though at least our society acknowledges it and there's less prejudice today than there was fifty years ago.

So overall, our society is better than it was ten or fifteen years ago. :) Better than the 80's? Musically, no. Fashionably, yes and no, depending on what it is. Culturally, yes. And it's better than all the other decades because of the advancement of women and other minorities. We're getting better as time progresses. That's how I see it.

Todays society is ruled by the media which is not right because what the media show as being rite ppl take and run with it instead of having a mind of their own

I'm for it!

I think it's got a lot of bads and a lot of goods. But the bads tend to be overemphasized and the goods overshadowed.

The fact that I'm sitting in my own place wearing my comfy PJS, listening to mp3s, answering Yahoo questions, and all of this with my boyfriend close by . . . I think society has been good to me. Even if it's taken a crap on me nearly every day. :)
