don't know admin. pass. for Dell Latitude CPx. Trying to find generic password -called Dell they are no help since the laptop is used and given to me from a friend-he doesn't remember password. Thank you in advance for any help I get.

There is no generic password - it is entered when the computer is set up.

You can re-install the operating system and re-enter a password. You can also try to crack or replace the password, but this can be a lengthy process.

Usually when Windows comes preloaded on a PC, the administrative password is left blank. If that does not work, then there is no generic password. Check the web and you should be able to find an admin password reset program.

If you are looking to rest the cmos password (bios) then try

if you are trying to reset the windows password then try

there are some Linux apps that can achieve both by loading to resident memory and acting as a second operating system then resetting it at the dos level. All of these can be found and downloaded for free I just forget where the sites are. Try some creative Google searches on the later..
