Something like $40. It's a long drive. What you might consider is taking the L - take the Orange Line from Midway into the Loop, transfer to the Red Line north to Howard, then transfer at Howard to the Purple Line, and that will take you to Northwestern University. It's a long trip that way (unless the Purple Line Express is running from the Loop at that time, which it does at rush hour) but it will only cost you $2.00.

YIKES! No way! That will be extremely expensive!

Rent a car at the airport, you'll be MUCH better off. Midway is on the southern end of Chicago, and Evanston is north of Chicago. You do NOT want to pay that cab fare! $40 is definately an underestimate.

probably enough that you would have wished you rented a car. Like $20 to someplace south in downtown Chicago, but then another $40 up to Northwestern...that's a long drive. Actually, you could take the Northwestern train line right to Evanston where Northwestern is for more like $6 and then either walk or take a taxi to Northwestern...depends what part of the campus you are going to...it's a nice/clean train ride...
