we lie down together, watch TV, and do out "stuff", but ... as soon as he starts snoring I go to my bedroom. I really like this "luxury" because my bedroom furniture is very nice and comfy. Also, every time he gets up to go to the bathroom - I wake up. I really get the best sleep alone. However, when people (relatives & friends) visit they assume it's a guest room and I explain to them that it's my bedroom but I alsways get this "bewildered" look. Why do they think it's wrong?

yes, you are very correct, however, I have an incredible view from my room, so not too much resentment in this case.

It's probably not the best arrangement (certainly not the most traditional) - but there's nothing "wrong" with this if both people are fine with it. The only thing that would make it "wrong" is if it was causing problems between you two. My husband and I sleep in separate bedrooms because of his snoring; he understands that I need to get my sleep - I'm an insomniac, and he sleeps soundly and snores up a storm. I'm hoping that one day he'll get really serious about losing weight, and it will help him to stop snoring.

Oh They are just being that way.
I know a lot of couples who have the exact same arrangement as you do. Someone has different sleeping patterns or snores.
These days most people all have so much going on that getting a good nights rest is very important and is best to do without sleeping aids -so if resting by yourself works for you and your partner that's your business. If it works for you as a couple it really is nobody's concern. Traditionally married folks are suppose to be able to deal with each others sleeping habits.
The old solution was a Giant bed.

None of their d*mn business. Snoring is the worst. It can really screw up those who have to listen to it. No, for god's sake, stay in the snoring bed to make your relatives happy but lose your health and sleep every night.

Why do you feel like they are owed any explanation whatsoever? Why explain? Unsolicited explanations mean you are nervous or self-conscious. It's your life. If they don't like it they can go p*ss up a rope.

But you should also have him checked out by a Dr. - snoring can be a sign of impending heart attack, apnea, or other health problems.

As long as you guys are doing fine, there isn't a thing wrong with it. Notice he is getting plenty of sex so he's not complaining, either.

No, there's nothing wrong with that. I often sleep in another room when my wife snores or is tossing and turning at night. I also find I get my best sleep when I'm by myself.

As for why visitors think it's wrong, I guess they're either heavy sleepers and aren't disturbed by their partners tossing and turning, or they don't mind having a bad's night sleep.

It depends on the couple and what is best for them, so it is hard to say. Having separate bedrooms could decrease intimacy, which would be bad for a relationship, but I suppose it could lead to a longing for each other as well. There are also times it might be better for sleeping, where one person in the couple snores or one goes to bed later than the other and would otherwise wake them up. So it's hard to say one way or another in general--it depends entirely on the couple.

it does seem wierd but i wouldn't say wrong. In todays anything goes society i don't think it's wrong unless you're about to kill me. So long as it's just a matter of comfort and not because you don't like eachother or some other negative thing then by all means build your own bungalow in the tree house if you want.

Traditionally the two sleep together. Especially young people have trouble dealing with this because you spend so many years trying to get to bed with him or her it's tough to understand that the sex thing sort of wears off after awhile and you just want sleep, not sex when you go to bed. I think it's perfectly ok to sleep apart especially when there's a snoring or medical problem. One minor problem. When you do want....you know....and you show up in the other ones bed, the element of surprise or playing hard to get kind of dissipates just by virtue or your presents there!

I personally think its wrong, hey your missing out on the good stuff like his leg resting on yours, or the warmth of his body close to yours, that midnight hug etc. My husband snores I just give him a slight push and he changes his position and the snoring goes away.
If you're still going to continue with this action, then be very sure he feels loved and satisfied in the sex department- you don't want him wondering about looking for someone that can tolerate his snoring.

I don't think it's strange; I'm in the same dilemma as you are. I love my husband and have tremendous respect for him; but I can't sleep when he snores (and I'm amazed that the snoring doesn't keep him up too!).

It's a little wrong. Do you love your husband more than sleep?
