My son was born on February 29th. We always celebrated his birthday on the 28th on non leap years, because it is still the month of February. Some people told me I should celebrate it on March 1st, but I understand that leap year has and extra day, so I did not think that the 1st was truly his birthday, so the 28th it has always been.

Officially, a person born on the 29th February should celebrate their birthday on 1st March but most celebrate it on the 28th February.

I had a friend who had the February 29 birthday, and she celebrated on the 28th.

I would celebrate on the 28th because at least the month would be the same as the real birth month..

My grandmother celebrated on the 28th to keep it in the month of February and then when she hit 40 she only celebrated every year after that on the 29th...LOL (helped keep her young)
just kidding!

No, people usually have their birthday either the day before or after the 29th comes around, they usually stick to one date rather than have it on the 28th one year or the 1st another year.

My friend had his birthday on the 29th, they would just give him presents on the 28th, though every 4th year would be a more special birthday than the others, due to the leap day.

Supposedly you are suppose to celebrate your birthday every 4 years as you were born on a leap year but even if you did not it would not matter as each year that went by you would still be a year older.

if they were born before 12pm on Feb. 29th, they should celebrate their birthday on 28th Feb. if they were born after 12pm they should celebrate on 1st March. this way they celebrate their birthday on the day closest to the actual day they were born.

I think for me, I would choose based on the time I was born... morning babies might want to celebrate the 28th. Night babies on March 1st. Mid afternoon babies...hard decision
