For those of you who had questions for me. This is my first pregnancy and i am 39 weeks. I have noticed some traces of blood when i went to the bathroom... it wasnt a lot but it was some. I have been having contractions... the last few days they seem to be getting closer and stronger but they dont feel painful to me. And i was told they are suppose to be... but all they are to me is uncomfortable. I have already lost my plug. Just to answer what i could remember... does this change any advice.

The traces of blood are what is called "bloody show" (I know gross right?) But it's a sign of labor. The contractions your feeling are probably early labor, as well, and will probably increase when your body is ready and the baby is ready. Just because you lose your plug doesn't really signal anything. Your mucous plug can regenerate, but the fact that you lost it sounds like you're on the right course.

I had my membranes stripped at 2 appointments during my pregnancy to see if it would start to bring on labor but it didn't work. I went into labor on my own the following week (after the last membrane stripping incident). It's good that your contractions are getting closer together. The best thing to do si to keep your Dr. informed of your progress and just listen to your body.

I had my membranes stripped at 39 weeks. I bled too. I bled a LOT. Which my OB told me was perfectly normal. I lost my plug a few days later...but I still went past 40 weeks. I had to be induced. Today I have a perfectly healthy 3 week old baby girl.

After I lost my plug, I went into labor that night. If you are shedding blood, call your OBGYN. Believe me, you will know when youre in labor. Imagine gas pains X 1000. I thought I was having gas pains until they really intensified. Good luck! I highly recommend the epidural!!!
