yea, i've been following it since 2002.

people don't realize this, but it started in 1999.
Barry Sanders and John Madden was on the cover, but in training camp, Sanders retired all of a sudden, and the Lions didn't have Sanders anymore.
2000 Dorsey Levens appered on SOME of the copies of madden 2000. he was only able to muster up 220 or so yards after the year before he was well over 1000
Eddie George in 2001: he started fumbling and bobbling the ball at the start of the season, and pretty much GAVE Ray Lewis a TD in the playoffs which ended the game for the titans
Daunte Culpepper 2002: Knee injury, Vikings were 4-7 when he got hurt
Marshall Faulk 2003: hurt his ankle and was out 5 weeks, and never broke the 1000 yard mark again
Michael Vick in 2004: broke his leg in Pre-season and was out until the near end of the season (5-11)
Ray Lewis in 2005: Broke his wrist, and it was also his first year with out an Interception
Donovan McNabb in 2006: he got a Sports Hernia and Injured his Groin
Shaun Alexander: Broke his foot

every madden cursed team was not able to make it to the playoffs or that player screws up really badly in the playoffs costing the game

(note: most likely LT will NOT be on the cover of madden 2008 because they try not to put 2 players of the same position 2 times in a row since 2000)

The madden curse has been very strange yes..since '01 with Eddie George.
Then there has been Dante Culpepper, Marshall Faulk, Mike Vick, Ray Lewis, and as you stated Shaun Alexander.
Tomilinson better watch out next year!!!

Man I used to call people that were talking about that crazy, but I'm starting to believe in it, crazy as it is. Shaun Alexander pushed me over the edge...

definitely not a curse, but something the cover athlete thinks about

Alexander got cursed with 200 yds on like 40 carries in the 1st game back, not bad eh?

Ray Lewis sported the cover a couple of years ago and nothing serious happened to him.

Yeah, i think it is. Strange, huh? There have been many strange incidents. Maybe EA Sports is paying people to injure the cover athlete? Who knows????
