I take my birth control pill every night at 7 sharp but sometimes I forget and/or don't get around to taking it until 8 PM, sometimes 8:30-9 PM. I read on a website that if you don't take it at the same time or if you forget to take it completely, your chances of pregnancy are higher. Is this true and why so?

If you take them at the same time each day, then you will be receiving a regular amount of the hormones at a steady rate and that if you miss pills or take them at the wrong time that your body will not be in sync with the hormones, and you could ovulate. However, a few hours difference will not really matter. And as long as you remember to "make up" pills if you miss them it should be fine.

Your body thrives on routine.

Also, if you are not consistent your body does like to build up immunities. To keep the effectiveness of the pills it is recommended that you take them at the same time each day because of this purpose.

Your chances of pregnancy do increase...
Hope this helps

Because your body isnt meant to be regulated my chemicals, and unless those chemicals are there are the same time every day (your body naturally produces its own chemicals at the same time every day) it will break from the cycle the pills impose on it.

It takes a long time to get that cycle back up and going when you are late takinga pill, and even more so when you skip one completely.

You have a 2 hour grace period. if you take them within that 2 hours you are fine, if not your chances go up slightly. They work more efficiently because the pills last for 24 hours so when one is done the other one starts.

Because it keeps it at the correct levels in your body. The pill is for 24 hours and then it starts to deplete.
